Discovering your Personality
Most of the times we are attracted by
exceptional personalities even without being aware of it. We keep on trying to
identify their X-factor. So what is it that makes a person charismatic? We try
to look for quick tips but keep missing the point.
Being Honest and Accepting of
yourself
More often than not, we feel that
acquiring some positive qualities is the key. Though it isn't. What develops
confidence is your honest innate nature and the utmost acceptance of it. If you
happen to be shy, instead of joining spoken English classes, try to find a
conducive, comfortable environment that lets you be vocal in your own language
and convenience. Accept yourself first, only then can the solution come.
Freedom is Empowerment
When we are free, we are more calm, composed
and confident. It sounds counter-intuitive but sometimes in order to be in
control you need to let the reigns free and sync with the natural flow. Freedom
is power. You must have noticed that when you try to prepare too hard or
restrict yourself to say certain things and to behave in a certain manner, you
become nervous and consequently clumsy. The philosophy explaining this is ‘with
ease comes efficiency’. When you are in your comfort zone, you are more
appealing. When you are prepared for the fact that the person in front of you
may or may not judge you for being yourself and despite that have the courage
and confidence to be yourself and love yourself then it creates a different
impact. Balance strikes when you can speak what you want, convey your message
in whichever way possible and trust yourself to say the right things.
Introspection
Self reflection or introspection is an
essential ingredient of self discovery. When you step back and observe your
mind and body then you understand yourself better. A world renowned meditation
and mindfulness coach and founder of the bestselling software application
Headspace believes that our true personality lies beneath all the superficial
materialistic possessions we identify with. To look beneath all this one needs
to take time to look deeper inside. You must have noticed shaking limbs in
pressure situations or your heart beat becoming higher when you’re anxious
before examinations or interviews. Similarly your body gives you indications
all along your day most of which you fail to notice. And your mind does the
same. All you need to do is set the confusion free, sit quietly with your mind
and listen.
Trust you own advice
Everyone teaches younger people to take
the advice of elders, their mentors or teachers but nobody encourages us to
take our own advice. The fact is that we are the best judges of our situation
and ourselves. No single person in the universe can know us better than us even
if we feel they do and that they can decide. I don’t say that don’t take other
people’s advice but choose who you want to listen to and what or to what
extent. Your life is ultimately in your hands and if it isn’t then it should.
Be the rider in your journey so that you can choose what you feel is best for
you.
Be your own Cheerleader
There are a lot of times when we feel
that we are not supported enough or not understood and encouraged. In those
times, be your own cheerleader because leaders may have to stand alone and they
must stand strong. So comforting and consoling yourself becomes a necessity.
Along with that you must be your own backbone, your own supporting framework
and your own drive.
Whether it is cracking the IAS exams or
